That's another thing. I just installed the DLC, but I'm concerned with gear and levels. So my character ended at 34, 35. That's fine, he'll be 34, 35 to start. I can clear and try something new (he was mainly an assassin only getting Igni and Axii for story purposes, so I may try full sign this time). Great. But without more skill slots, leveling is utterly pointless. You get skill points? Great, can't use them beyond the 12. New gear? So my mastercrafted wolf gear is going to be replaced with a level 40 Novigrad Longsword? Is there better Witcher gear I can craft?

I mean so much about NG+ that most games have. CDPR seems to have had this as a complete afterthought. Different decisions are about all you can make this time around because leveling is utterly pointless.

Yeah, I wish there were more skill slots. I get not being able to master everything, but it does feel limited

Still feeling no desire to start again. Unless they announce something in the next patch where is makes NG+ worthwhile. Because otherwise, why wouldn't I just replay the game if leveling is absolutely pointless? At least I can EARN things when I level again...

I will give if until the next patch. Otherwise I'm going to trade it in for Madden 16, NHL 16 or something else coming out in quarter 4.

You dont want to at least wait for the two expansions I think next month or maybe October?
I haven't touched the game in at least 2 weeks, I think im burning out and need to just focus on the main quest for a while.

Yeah, once I hit the islands I stopped with monster quests and treasures and just went at the main quest and secondary quests

I don't have a desire to spend 25 dollars for approximately 25 hours of gameplay where nothing matters. Because when you think of it, everyone is going to be over 30 when they hit. So other than a couple new areas and quests (and monsters) there will still not be any reason to level. So if I hear that they plan to expand the talents and give a REASON to level, I'll consider it. Otherwise I don't see the point.

I did the same. Velen and Novigrad were so damn big that by the time I got to Skellige, I couldn't fathom doing more side quests.

I'm sad that the level cap is 70 (or so I've heard) but there is absolutely no reason to level beyond 30. And if you choose to skip all the side quests and plough through the game and finish it at level 25, you can do NG+ and actually get BOOSTED to 30. I haven't played a game this pointless in leveling since Final Fantasy VIII.

Yeah, I wish we could had more skill slots though some things improve upon leveling up still. Yeah, no need to level, or not much in FFVIII because of how enemies scaled, oblivion was the same way.

Just started the Battle of Kaer Morhen quest and it is so nice to see Ciri alive and well with everyone in the keep. Geralt's reaction to first seeing her was heartbreaking but we all knew she wasn't dead. I'm at the point where I just set up the battle preparations and I think when I leave the main fortress, I'm going to be thrust into a major battle. Can't wait to see how this goes down - its been building since the beginning of the game! Very excited to leave work today so I can play it tonight.

I was happy to see my comrades there and the nice little interaction between Roche/Ves and Letho. Didn't realize that I would get Vigi the Loon and that guy in red that you rescue from the trolls in Hjalmar's quest line. And of course Kiera Metz and Triss back at it.

I've also finished up almost all witcher contracts and secondary quests I've come across. I doubt I'll go through all of the ? marks in the ocean in Skellige but everything on land in Velen and Skellige are completed. It's nice but it feels like I'm nearly done with my journey... :(

Not that it is a huge part of the game but here's a couple other things for me:
    1. The Kiera Metz bath scene was phenomenal. It was beautifully rendered and looked great. For most, it's the first nudity of the game and it didn't disappoint. If, like me, you did the whole storyline before moving on, then the friend with benefits ending was great.
    2. You get to Triss, who to me is one of the most attractive woman in video games today, and someone I easily broke Yennifer's heart for! I was excited to see the emotional culmination of that, and it was... pathetic. Truly uninspired. Felt like more was put into the whole Kiera Metz thing than the person you could actually end up with! It was a let down after the emotion of letting her get her fingernails ripped out and the passion you could create between the two.
    3. Yennifer annoyed the living crap out of me, and the unicorn was overdone this time. The wolf encounter (which I had to watch online because I did not choose Yennifer) was beautiful, and symbolic.
    4. Most of the sex scenes were identical and duplicated. It appeared as if they used a single model for all the women and Geralt had no ingenuity in the bed room.
    5. Moar Triss plox!

I've FINALLY made it to Skellige,
did about 3 main quests back to back with Yennefer and they're already telling me to go back to Velen. WTF.
I did however finally finish the secondary quest Following the Thread where you help the, Witcher Lambert, after obtaining the quest way back when I was like level 11. I have one more like that I picked up when I was about level 10 that wanted me to go to Skellige. Its a level 6 quest so it'll be a cake walk. How quests and enemies level is still my biggest complaint with Witcher 3, if you dont finish a quest right away its almost not worth it. Following the Thread only gave me 4xp but took who knows how many hours to complete.

Before I continue any further in the main quest im going to finish off some of the secondary quests i've picked up in the short amount of time i've been on the island and explore some more. These islands are hard to navigate. It hasn't gotten annoying yet but there are a lot of boats.

I don't know about PS4 or PC but the loading times were a BIG negative to me. Every time you die or have to zone to one of the 3 major hubs was just outlandish in this day and age. An original long long, I understand, especially for graphically intense games. But 30-90 seconds EVERY time I need to travel somewhere? UGH!

Is it as bad on other platforms?

For PC my loads are rarely longer than 15 seconds (with 8gig RAM), if they are its because I either just started the game and nothings been cached and/or I have to listen to that Dandelion narration of whatever major event last occurred, and even that i'm thinking the game has loaded its just making me listen to him talk. Thats all probably around 30sec to 1min

Even on my old late-2010 PC with a mechanical hard drive I didn't notice much in the way of loading times. Like Gorge my only long loads of note were when I first started the game and nothing was in cache.

I missed out buying that for XBox One instead of the PC. I even missed out on the nude mod! :(

PS4 load times are only slightly longer than the little story brief that starts each load. Not sure if they are slower on disk, I downloaded the game to the HD.

Anyway, just doing the mission Final Preparations right now.
For some reason I finished the W2 feeling like Phillipa Eilhart was a sympathetic character. Now I remember she was just a jerk. Part of me wanted to let Djikstra get his way but I bet in the long run, it will help to have her around.

Also, not sure if my game forgot that I told it that I let Sile de Tarnsville die in the W2 but once I finished saving Margarita, the glossary tells me Sile died in prison... either way, as long as she's dead that's fine!

Eye, did you go through the story for a while before going back to the Witcher Contracts? I just got to Skellige and there's so many notice boards I haven't even looked at with im assuming a ton of contracts and its all so much.

I would do 2-3 contracts in between major story missions all game so it was a solid pace of side questing and progressing the story. I would pretty much do the contracts that were at my level or local to where I was at the time.

I love that the game is so massive and branching that this is a secondary quest. Killing the king of the north is an optional quest you don't even need to touch. I sided with Roche because I think he is better for the north than Djikstra would be in terms of personal freedom. Djikstra would probably build the north into an empire but I don't see him being much different than Radovid outside of the witch hunts.

Also, I don't like how Djikstra just walked in and was going to kill my pals. Roche and Ves mean more to me than Djikstra ever did.

Also enjoyed the Ciri quests. Nice change of pace. I hope she gets to thank a certain family that helped her out...
I still feel bad for Skjall. Poor guy was just trying to flirt with Ciri and help her escape and ended up being ostracized and killed for being what everyone thought was a deserter. I think his death made me feel just as bad as when I saw the Baron hanging.

Did the same thing in Reasons of State for the same reason.

Have you done the "Payback" quest yet?

Edit: Actually, it's the "Child of the Elder Blood" quest I meant. But I think you might be a little before that just now.

I just finished Payback, I'm moving onto the final part of Final Preparations tonight and then who knows after that.

Yeah. I got confused because there's another chain of missions called "Battle Preparations" that comes next, which is what I was thinking about.

The next few missions are pretty good. Certainly a bit different as you will see.

Ciri is a beast. I wanted to play the whole game with her skills.

I loved playing as Ciri. Best parts of the game IMO, but then again, I don't really like a challenge and would rather just destroy my way through the game.

I hear you. But beyond that, I just thought her powers were so damn fun to fool with. First time I used that time warp thing to kill 5 guys, I almost wet myself. Witcher 4: Ciri's Coming to Get You.

I like the Ciri parts, I think whats good about it is that its a change of pace from Geralt. With Geralt, you kill someone and might go through and loot all the bodies. With Ciri you don't have to waste time doing any of that, or rarely ever have to stop to talk to anyone, and on top of it her fighting style is a lot quicker. So gameplay with Ciri is just focusing on fighting as fast as possible. But yeah a Witcher spin off with Ciri would be pretty cool I think.

They're a decent change of page but I like Geralt so much better in combat. Ciri doesn't feel like she has any weight floating around which feels a bit odd. I know she has powers but it feels like Geralt actually has a footprint.

I haven't actually played the game since last Tuesday, mostly because I hurt the tip of my thumb putting in hardwood floors so playing was literally painful. Hoping to finish off the game this week if it heals up. :)

Beat the game today... What a ride. I got one of the good endings and how satisfying to see the story get wrapped up. My eyes watered up as I watched the final scene. Fantastic. I feel like the game stayed long enough to really completely invest me but not too long. I'm sad it's over but I'm glad I don't have any more to do in it.

I'm glad pretty much all loose ends were tied up. The characters in my ending all got what they deserved. :)

Geralt, if this is indeed your last game, I bid farewell to one of my all time favorite video game characters. So deep and yet so simple.

Beat rpg I've played in a very long time. Might even be the best. Probably is the best. Witcher 2 had a better story but this one was the better experience.

I feel so empty now. Been playing it, living it since May 17th. But I don't feel at all short changed. Game of the year, game of the 2010s for me easily.

I don't remember much about Witcher 2's story, I found it too disjointed at times. Billions of side quests aside, I found W3's story to be better just because it flowed better IMO
