    Happened sometime this morning.

This is not only a tragedy for his family and friends, but also for the Marlins team/organization as a whole. Fernandez WAS their future, him and Stanton. Every move they were making was to support those two give them a winning team, and now they lost their ace pitcher to a freak accident.

This dude had the reflexes of a cat.

I was incredibly saddened to hear this news. I loved that catch off Tulowitski. He was a filthy pitcher. One of those I was praying the Red Sox would sell the farm to get this offseason. What a tragedy for the game losing such a great young arm.

    Thoughts with his family.

Horrific news. One of those moments that brings the whole sporting community together in mourning.

Certainly a tragic loss. What's worse is that he was scheduled to start Sunday at Atlanta, and the Marlins pushed him back to face the Mets at home on Monday. If he makes that start on Sunday, he might be alive today.

God, I hate that line of thinking. It's true because I thought the same thing, but that's such a devastating way of looking at things. Think the Marlins are thinking that, too?

Total and complete bummer. I woke up to the news on Sunday morning. It's so incredibly sad, especially the fact that he just announced that his girlfriend is expecting their first child.

Every time something like this happens to someone young and promising, it reminds me that nothing is guaranteed. This just sucks. The Marlins tribute in their game yesterday was incredible. No fanfare or spectacle, just a team reeling.

If the boat operator wasn't sailing at stupid speeds, he might be alive today, as well...

It came out somewhere that Fernandez was likely the boat operator.

Reports of depression involved, too. Absolutely devastating that...
