After a couple of weeks of silence, I'm back, gentlemen. It has been a ridiculously hectic couple of weeks. Life just caught up with me. My father was back and forth into the emergency room for emergency surgeries 3 times, and I just couldn't bring myself away. Never fear though. I'm back and trust that I'll be bringing my A-game for InterAction.

Ah, man, I'm really sorry to hear about that. I'm glad you're back. If you need to take some more time off or whatever, please just let us know... it's no big deal or anything. Good luck with everything going on in your dad's life.

As I told Dean and Zio, my vote for Midas as guest referee is contingent upon his ENTIRE entrance being written out in the results.

I guess I should have provided an explanation or something, but I've been distracted, busy, and having a hard time finding the right words... but here goes.

This is pretty much the same vicious cycle in the e-feds. I get motivated about something, it never works out as well in practice, we run into a lot of snags, I get less motivated, and then things go awry. It just went a lot quicker this time.

This e-fed was brought in with a few key storylines in mind, and most of them have kind of fallen apart, sadly. I can't blame anyone, because much like me, a lot of you are extremely busy with your real lives. Some are working a lot or in school, some have kids, some have family members that need assistance, some have irregular schedules, and some just have trouble finding motivation. Or for some of us, like me, you fit in almost all those categories.

The worst thing is, I keep doing this, and I'm sure you guys are as tired of it as I am. I don't like being undependable or feeling like I'm stringing people along or whatever, as it's not my intention. I came into this because I believed there would be consistent activity. From the beginning, though, there've been problems with a consistency in activity, and there've been problems with reliability on my part.

This time of year is usually rather busy for people anyway, and as several people have pointed out over the years, the end of the year is historically terrible for e-feds. If you go back for the last 5 or so years, there's almost always an inactive period around this time (probably due in a large part because of me and my schedule around this time). It's pretty hard to get much going when we're all so busy and can't really contribute to the e-fed, and to be honest, there have been obvious problems for the better part of the last two months anyhow. This is bigger than just a temporary lull. I can point to any number of reasons - the members of the e-fed being extremely busy, me being apathetic/busy as well, GW as a site dying, people missing RPs or outright leaving during key moments in storylines, me failing as a fed runner to produce interesting and appealing storylines and events for people, and a number of other things. It all boils down to one thing:

I'm clearly not fit to run this place anymore judging from my track record. I've been kidding myself for a long time. It's been five years since Pro Wrestling Warriors died, and I haven't done a successful e-fed since. WPW was handed over within the first six months. PW+ only lasted about six months. This e-fed has only lasted a few months. Between that, I ran some cool one-shot events, and I've had a lot of great shows and have read a lot of awesome promos from you guys and many others, but as far as running a long-term fed or being actively involved and motivated in this community, I've failed you.

I don't really know what I'm going to be doing moving forward, if I'm going to be wrapping the fed up and stepping down or trying to change and make a genuine commitment toward bringing on more people to alleviate the burden/somehow salvage this fed, but for now, I'm going to do my best to avoid a hiatus and still get these results up within the next day. I don't want everyone to leave again, because each time I go on a mass recruitment, less and less people come back, and I don't blame anyone a bit. We've actually gotten some members back in the last month or so, like JoZ, Joe, Ross, Tubby, and even some people PMing me who haven't e-fedded for years, so I'm grateful for that, but I also know they won't stick around if there's nothing going on. I don't want to be responsible for the death of the e-feds because of my irresponsibility.

And I guess in the time it took me to write this post I could've probably written a match, so that shows you how bad I am at running this fed. Guess I'll quit rambling and do something. Thank you to everyone who's stuck with me and keeps coming back. You're all a bunch of masochists for putting up with it.

I came back with a vengeance and a clear passion to get back on board. Whatever you feel is necessary to get back on track, I'm behind you, Dean-o. If you need to commit to a more lax schedule, I'm all for it. If you need to bring some more people in to assist, I'm with you 100%. I'm not going anywhere, bud.

I know that we say this EVERY time that it comes up, but shorter results. Seriously. We all know that you can write incredible things, but you're also talented enough to develop storylines and keep people's interest in a paragraph or two.

Dean, man...if you don't have the time or motivation, then you don't have the time or motivation. Don't force things you don't have to. That other fed I was in for a while had volunteers write the matches. Fed runners decided winners, and the RPing crowd pitched in. Had word limits on how long they could be, too. Let's do all of that.

Heaven knows I don't read most of the matches you write now. Beginning, end, and highlight skimming, sure, but all that text? Too long, bro. Sorry.

Kind of just going to start by saying all of my feelings pretty much mirror what everyone else has said, almost exactly. The only thing I will add is that I really don't care about the lulls and what not all that much, as I'm not even very invested, but I do want to write, and the lack of intensity here works for me. I can write three promos in an hour, and I don't really care about winning or losing or anything like that anymore. I just have some character ideas, and I want a cathartic place to kind of work that out and collaborate with others if at all possible, so, basically, I don't expect anything, I don't want anything, and I don't really have anywhere else to go, as this is where I've done the bulk of my work and I don't feel like meeting new people and going through unnecessary bullshit just to do what I aim to do.

So yeah, I'll keep coming back as long as there is a Roster Topic I can plop a profile into, and I'll keep RPing as long as you set an oft-missed deadline, and I'm good with all of it.

And honestly, you should probably realize that most of us don't read half of the novellas you put into your results anyway.

Why? To quote the Internet, ain't nobody got time for that.

It's not that I / we don't care about what happens, but I want to read the juicy bits of the matches. Not just simply "who won?" but the main part of what went down.

If you "can't" write shorter matches, then perhaps you need to farm out more of the stuff to other people (Last I checked, you had two other guys with red names in this forum) and then you can focus on, say, one or two matches you really want to go in depth with...and then the other stuff gets done.

I didn't come out of E-Fed Retirement to give up on it already, and most people are never going to quibble about a day or two's late results. But if you want us to meet all sorts of deadlines, and then don't even try to meet your own (from what we see here anyway) then yeah that's pretty irritating.

But then again, the fact that you have people who are so eager to see results...and can't wait to drop more RP's to keep their story going...should tell you that all is not lost yet, and you shouldn't throw in the towel just yet. That's the way I see it, anyway.

It seems now common place that promos don't need to be 3/4 pages of a word document anymore so results don't really need to be. I've always suggested that results get written when the card is made and winners are decided after promos are posted so by that point you atleast have 80% of the match done. But I know you've said you're a perfectionist and like giving detailed things.

To narrow it down, I don't read many matches. Usually my own and then the main event/title matches or any big interesting storylines. I agree with JoZ, even if it is a cheap cut for most peoples characters, that all but title and big story matches should be long, but maybe not as long as you guys post. I agree you need the build up, but I think people really only like the ''spots'' but I'm just speaking for myself here.

I mean I've been around GW as long as most of you guys, just not consistently. 2000/2001 when it was GWF/XGW/GCW. Great days, but it still seems to me that when the result writing changed from rp/dice to just rp and opinion and then to storyline... it kinda stuck. The same issue that the e-fed runner wanted to keep the quality going. Think I need to reiterate that this isn't a dig at you guys trying to give your best for us, we have loved some of the results/matches that have been written over the years, but sometimes quality must be sacrificed for productivity. I know it does in my work at the supermarket, can't be perfect 100% of the time. As Leper said, I think if you cut down any event to a paragraph of the last 5 minute clusterfuck of the match we'd be happy to continue giving out our own quality rp's.

Seems people now (speaking for myself and just observation) are happy to RP and enjoy it rather than competitively compete for titles like the good old days.

Actually, it's not that I'm a perfectionist. It's that I don't have a lot of time to pre-write matches, and if I write up a match in advance and then people don't RP, then that's a waste of time and I'm not going to be too thrilled about it.

It's a mix, I think. Some people want titles, some want great storylines, but it seems like people are getting neither.

It seems like people have definitely been doing their part for the past couple of shows. Perhaps you do start working on matches sooner, and if you deliver and the participants don't, then next time they get jobbed out or something.

There has to be a better way then you waiting till whatever deadline you set for RPing and then trying to cram in results that night.

Or, hell, set the deadline really early. People who want it will do their best to meet it. If they don't, well, that's kind of not your problem is it? You can't both be the guy responsible for the product and also making sure you babysit everyone else. Because if you try and do both you end up, well, kind of where we are now, perhaps.

Sorry Dean, that last sentence was meant to be attached to a bit about shorter results, not pre-writing them.

I understand it's a waste of time and if people don't promo then you and other writers will be pissed, but as JoZ said, there has to be a solution. As I said before, it doesn't really seem like much has changed results wise in a few years, admittedly that's because it works well when lives aren't being hectic. But there does need to be a fail-safe for the odd occasion when it doesn't or for the Christmas period as you pointed out earlier.

Sure that was tried once... maybe not here, but somewhere.

People wrote their matches themselves and decided the winner themselves (most people made their guy win, but sometimes they made them lose) and the head of results picked the best match to post.

No, no. Fed runner (Dean or whoever) decides the winners and posts results, but only actually writes the main event. The rest of the matches get farmed out to whoever wants them. First come, first served.
