    Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with the Soldier of Fortune game for the Sega Dreamcast, the thing is that every time I play this game, at a certain point I'm not able to continue: as I go through the stages, and when the "Loading" bar appears, the game suddenly stops and the following message is displayed onscreen: "The Controller in Control Port A has been removed or a VMU is being recognized". Later if I want to load the same game I've been playing and when I'm asked "Would you like to continue the most recent saved game?" I press button A (Yes) and it appears "File access error. Saved game not loaded." Actually I've never removed the controller when the game is saving, leaving it as steady as possible. It's been a really annoying situation, and it has happened about 5 or 6 times, some of them when I'm about to finish the game. I'm afraid to start all over again if this keeps happening.

    Anyone having the same problem? What can I do? Can anybody please help me out?

    Thanks for your help!!:megaman2::mario:

    Assuming you know the VMU and the controller are both working fine, I would try deleting the game data for that game, and start over, or hell, try another VMU or controller. I doubt there's a problem with the game.

    Like Fool says, I'd try a different controller. If that doesnt work try the same VMU that has your current data on it but create a new game and see if that fixes it. If that doesnt fix it then try a totally new memory card and create a new save. Basically you're trying to narrow down if its the controller thats the problem of if you have a corrupt save game in which case you'll need to delete that save and start over.

    Thanks so much guys, like you say I'll try another controller (I've got only one memory card though). Like Fool says, I've already deleated the game data several times in order to start again, but the problem keeps persisting, I'll see now if a different controller is the solution. One last question: what does VMU mean?

    Again, thank you very much for your replies, greetings from Chile!!

    Visual Memory Unit. That's the memory card. Some games have little mini games you can save on it and play on it if you have the batteries.

    Does your memory card look like this?

    If so, you have a VMU. Otherwise its just a regular memory card thats a basic rectangle without the screen and buttons.

    Exactly, I've got the regular memory card, just the rectangle without anything else.

    Thank you:^::mario:
