To our visitors, it's with some sadness that I'm announcing my retirement from digital publishing. As many of you know, I've run GameWinners.com for 21 years, and the time has come to move onward. Some of you weren't even born when the site went online. We've seen marriages, births, and even deaths in the community that has grown around the site. Change is inevitable in life, and this is part of the process. Although the "main site" has gone dark, the community here on our forums will continue for the foreseeable future, as long as there's enough interest.

A pro athlete, band, or television show would count a two decade run as very successful. That amount of time on the Internet is even more significant. I'd like to thank each and every one of you for making GameWinners.com one of your stops while browsing the web. We certainly couldn't have gone this long without you!

Moving forward, this is the new GameWinners.com -- a community site built, made, and visited by gamers of all types.

First and foremost: Thank you, Al! I've loved every minute of my time spent on this site over the past 15+ years, and that's entirely down to you and the incredible website that you built. Best of luck in whatever endeavours you move onto next!

I am saddened by the loss of the main site, but I'm also excited at the prospect of having some fresh views pumped into the community side and what that might mean for our activity here. My greatest hope is that we can pump some fresh blood into this community and and keep these forums alive for as long as possible.

Al; I think I'm the longest remaining senior staff member, I've been an sMod or higher since I wanna say 2007? 2008? I'm really greatful for the site, and I'm really glad to see the forums will be given a fighting chance to succeed on their own!

Now that you don't have to focus on the site, I hope to see you making more and more posts around here. Some of your posts have reached mythical status on the forums. Posting in an Al thread is an Award for members of the community, and I hope those get even more frequent now!

    Good luck, chief!

This site made me popular in junior school for providing Diddy Kong cheat codes. Then introduced me to some of the worst people the internet had to offer me. Then I met my best friends here.

    Thanks isn't enough, Al.

I feel like an end of an era has just occurred. I remember using gamewinners for game genie cheats before the forums were up. Part of me always loved that the main site never changed because it reminded me of those days. Hell, i've still looked at the main site when I've need to do something in old games like LttP. Hard to imagine it is all gone.

Thank you for all you have done for us here Al. As @Coleman has said, hopefully you have some spare time to post with us now. We may be small, but we are a close knit group that you helped create.

I'm surprised to see Erk/ @Daft Frik post, but it has me thinking that this may warrant a mass email to old members to let them know. Probably won't get too many people back, but some people may want to post their memories about the main site like the rest of us here. What do you think @Apollo @Coleman @GameWinners.com ?

It's worth a shot, I can definitely send one out, linking to this thread.

Edit -- In retrospect, I should probably leave that until tomorrow as it is my understanding we will be changing from community.gamewinners.com to simply gamewinners.com and therefore the email I would've sent out today would have resulted in a link that no longer worked.

Hey Al, thanks for keeping the site going for as long as you have; it has been a pretty big part of a lot of lives. It's sad to see you go, but life is change, and I wish you nothing but the best for the future.

Welp, best of luck on whatever it is you decide to do next, Al. Hopefully it won't be something that has people hounding you to upgrade forum software to the latest version all the time.

Wow! I had gotten an email of the big change, I had to end my abscence streak for this. I abandoned the GW life for I don't know how long, maybe it has been more than 10 years since I last logged in? Lol it has been long.

Anywho, thanks Al, for everything! Even though I have missed out these past several years, from what I've seen then and now, you have done a lot for the gaming community. Unfortunately, at some point in time, some things end and that is understandable. I hope to see the GW community continue on and carry your work into the future. I wish you the best of everything.

Also... I know it has been YEARS... but I apologize for having abandoned
my position as a moderator, don't hurt me lol

Al Amaloo, GameWinners, and Clotho - Hi Al, wow! It's been a minute for the three of us. I know I was here since "06 but I'm not sure how much before. My saved GW related emails and stuff goes only to 2006.

Al, even if I sharply disagreed with you about something we discussed I still respected you as creator of GameWinners. It takes a mom to fully understand raising a family. GameWinners has always been a family and you have done a worthy job of bonding her. It will be a tremendous loss that it will now go through such a dynamic change. Though the site will now go through a major change I do hope her core, that which you instilled in her will not change. However, I heard that there is no growth without change.

Al Amaloo, may God bless you as He has altered your course and set you on a different path. May each step be guided by Him and your next venture be fruitful. It has been a pleasure sir to work with GameWinners and you. May the grace of God be with you always and in all ways. And those you are leaving behind, may they build well upon the foundation you set forth.

Good luck on the retirement. The site has been helpful to get through many games i had issues on: SNES, PS1, 64, PS2, PS3, and XBOX.

Not sure how much I can add that hasn't already been said. I owe a lot to GW and the main site was the reason that I found the forums (as it was for a lot of people). I would agree that it's not really needed anymore with social media playing such a huge part in the internet, but I have grown a lot as a person in the 15+ years (holy shit that's a scary number to type) that I have been on the forums and it all comes from looking for Smackdown! 2 cheats.

Thank you for all that you have done and enjoy yourself. Hopefully the changes take some stress off your plate and allow you a more relaxed schedule!

Thank you Al and Gamewinners for everything, I had so much fun on GW and made a couple of lifelong friends along the way.

Also, does this mean we can finally post links to cheat.cc?

I saw this last night. It's sad if not at all surprising to see the main site go. I know most people including me found this community from the main site, but above that I even recently found printouts of cheats that are 17 years old that have somehow followed me across continents. I still remember the main site being the place to go for cheats back when they were still a thing, and I even found out about the existence of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 through the site. So thanks, and good luck for your future endeavours.

    Congrats on the retirement, Al.

Thanks for everything. I've been a part of this crazy family for more than half my life. It's been an honor to be here with so many good people (and bad!) throughout the years. I'll always have a lot of memories about this place and like shortkut said, I've broken my fair amount of Game Genies as a result of the main site!

Good luck with everything, and hopefully see you around here more often now.

Saw this in my email so had to log in for the first time in a few years

I remember looking for help for games and finding fun cheats for all my PS1 games to try out.

Joining the forums was a good decision as I gained a lot of experience in how to give advice in different topics and I became more helpful in general.

Thank you for everything Al. It's been a blast. <3

Retirement should be quite the new adventure there. Best luck in all of that!

    So... now what?

Where will all the cheats go?

How long do we keep the forums "alive"?
Is someone going to have the chance to purchase the domain? What happens to the server(s)?

We're talking about what to do with the cheats, most likely they'll end up in the Resource Manager. Al will keep the forums alive until it is no longer viable to do so, and the domain will likely remain with Al.

Thanks for everything Al, these forums were a good laugh back in the day. Weird to get an email from gamewinners in my inbox after all these years.

I saw the e-mail about the main site being shut down. I signed here many years ago and enjoyed both the main site and the forums. I eventually moved on but came back to check the main site from time to time. It's sad to see the main site go. Good luck with your future projects Al.

I'm really proud to see a lot of people coming in to respond to this thread.

Al: I hope you're starting to see what the website (and the attached forums) have meant to a large number of people. I'm another person from this thread that's made lifelong friends here. And I'm not alone, a lot of us have. And it's because of your site. We're all eternally grateful for what you've given us. I think I speak for a lot of people that might not find their way to post here, just wanting to say thank you.

A loser! How many times do I need to make this clear?

Thanks Al - this place was part of my growth as a person and was the first place I really experienced being on the internet. You built a nice community that I really enjoyed being a part of. All through the time I was here I made some great friends from my BFF @BigDaddy all that way to my BFFWSWTKMAMMWAMIMHAAML (Best friend forever who secretly want to kill me and marry my wife and move into my house and assume my life) @Coleman.

Good luck in your next venture!
