EA have started off by not bothering to go to EA and are instead hosting live from both LA and London.

And they wrapped it up. I half watched some of it whilst finishing off some work (on a Sunday - where is Jesus when you really need him?).

Titanfall 2 out this October. It actually has a single-player this time, so already looking much more interesting than the first.

FIFA 17 feat a new story mode, virtual managers and a real Jose Mourinho. I'm not convinced the story mode will be any good but at least they are trying to innovate, if by recycling a feature seen in other sports games.

Mass Effect: Andromeda was just a teaser but looked neat, although let's be frank I don't need a teaser to tell me that I want to play this. The Mako is back.

They showed off a very brief glimpse of Amy Hennig's (Uncharted 1-3) Star Wars single player game. Pretty pointless since there's literally zero information, but damn I want a Star Wars game and the graphics were out of this world.

Battlefield 1 looked interesting just as the reveal. Again no in-game in the conference but they did stream a game with community players and it is playable at their shows so there's already footage. Really with this it's about if the game is bug-free more than anything.

Finally there was Fe, which is EA's indie game for 2016. Nice. And something about e-sports in Madden.

So, yeah. That took me eight minutes to type which incidentally is about the same amount of interesting footage from the event.

that FFXV was just...what? What was I watching?

He spent half the time just dodging or something, not attacking etc

well certainly wasn't expecting Project Scorpio, I'm glad they had that card at the end because it was otherwise meh (even though they didn't say much...)

I liked the conference a lot. It had a lot of games that I'm personally interested in and I think their announcements about new features and buying once and playing on both PC and Xbox were pretty nice. I also hope that they live up to their promises about PC gaming in general, since that'll be a few hundred dollars saved every few years.

Scorpio looked cool. Allegedly part of the reason Andrew House confirmed the PS4 Neo in that FT article the other day was because they had found out that Microsoft were announcing Scorpio at E3.

Gwent looked quite nice, although I'm not the biggest fan of the game. Not surprised, since like a fair few of the announcements they made it was leaked thanks to a trademark application.

why would anyone get the slim now when you can get Scorpio in a year and a half, odd timing for those two announcements

Just saw the trailer for South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I had this pre-ordered from last year's E3 and the trailer is hilarious. Pretty much sums up my thoughts on modern movies :chuckle:

Apparently you get The Stick of Truth for free if you pre-ordered, which is awesome because I never had a chance to play that.

Also, looking forward to the Skyrim remaster! Another game I never got around to last generation that I need to play. I'm hoping later in the year I'll finally have more time for gaming because there's a million cool things going on.

    Re: Watch Dogs 2

Looks like they took the PoC criticism seriously and made the main character not generic white guy

Looks like they pulled a Prototype. Original "protagonist" was a generic white asshole in a hoodie... second game, they brought in an angry black guy that said "fuck" like every 5 words... Guess we'll find out when the new character opens his mouth.

I'd be more concerned as to whether or not Ubisoft plans on downgrading the graphics show in advertising so that the console version graphics can compete with the PC's graphics like they did for the original.

I watched EA and Bethesda conferences yesterday with a friend and we got BINGO cards for each to see what they'd do. Sure enough we got BINGO's for both talks.

EA was garbage. No one gives a crap about FIFA or Madden and the other stuff they had was just teaser BS. The only thing worth watching was the BF1 64 player match which they didn't show until AFTER the conference was over. (which by the way BF1 is looking better than i expected)

Bethesda's conference was much better but they spent way too long on Dishonored 2 and that Prey 2 didnt look like Prey. They could have slapped any old name on it and it wouldnt have mattered. The Fallout 4 stuff looks cool, but i dont think i would ever use the contraptions like conveyor belts. I'd rather have more story DLC. They should give up on ES:O and just tease us ES:VI. Also Skyrim port for new consoles. Waste of resources.

I havent seen the other stuff, but I did see the video for the Xbox One S. Looks good and the fact that they showed sooner than Sony is a good thing.

I agree somewhat, but the One S is $299 and available now whilst Scorpio will not be $299 and is not out for 18 months, so if you're a customer looking for a sub-$300 Xbox One then that's not going to happen for Scorpio for perhaps 3 years or more. Given the technology in Scorpio it will probably be at best $399 and possibly even more, even given 18 months worth of manufacturing production cost declines. Personally I would wait but if you've been looking to jump into existing and later-2016 games than the S is not the worst option.

I also think it's about winning back the hardcore. On pure specs Scorpio is more powerful than the PS4 Neo to a similar degree that the PS4 is more powerful than the Xbox One right now. On 6TFLOPS native 4K is a stretch but feasible, whilst I don't think the PS4 Neo could do native 4K. People wanting the most powerful technology in the console space would want to wait for Scorpio over the Neo.

It's a shame even as I'm not at all surprised by the delay. PC news is very welcome.

Harsh on FIFA. The Jose Mourinho skit is the clip that's done the most traction on my personal Facebook feed. The rest I agree.

Also agree on Prey. I wasn't expecting that branding at the end. They may as well have come up with a new IP since I don't think anyone really remembers Prey much more than the fact that it existed. I liked the game enough but it was 10 years ago!

It probably was cancelled and restarted. A bit like Doom 4 becoming Doom.

Spiderman sounds cool. Ever since the PS2 game, that franchise could have used a nice reboot.

Nintendo's stream is so tedious and forced. It's torturous to watch.

Quite a lot from this year's E3 that I'm actually excited about, but the dancing and music on stage was never one of them. Please don't ever do that again. Looking at you, Ubisoft.

time to dust off the ol' walkthrough I made ten years ago http://www.gamefaqs.com/ps/196986-crash-bandicoot/faqs/42695

    ...

(why is there one made last year? Just, what? Why would you do that)

Here are some more of my thoughts from yesterday:

    - Awkward transitions from firstly talking about the Orlando shooting

    - I think it's cool you can make custom Xbox controllers, I would like to do that for PS4

    - What is the cross pollination for Xbox and Microsoft 10 gamers?

    - Assassin's Creed movie didn't look too good

    - Watch Dogs 2 looked more intriguing than the first one, but I need to see more

    - Hideo Kojima is full of himself, did you see how he came on the stage

    - My god FFXV had a bad showing. They probably thought Titan would be a good boss fight to show off, but he basically dodged a hand and occasionally attacked...should have used pre-made footage for sure. The guy who was playing truly looked like he didn't know what he was doing. Why have teleportation abilities if you can't attack across his body? That VR thing wasn't any better...definitely looks like something they just threw together. Maybe they are suffering from sunk cost fallacy with this game, how much dev time was added to support VR? Also I'm still not feeling love for these characters...

    - Loved Detroit: Become Human, Horizon Zero Dawn, and more Last Guardian. Adding those to my list.

    - The audience reactions to a couple of parts was really fun, like when Kratos was finally revealed. Not sure how I feel about that, looks like they are setting it up for his son to be the next character? I never played IV. I'm kind of surprised I didn't recognize his VA. It's so funny how his VA is actually a really chill dude, is into meditation etc

    - Resident Evil 7 looked AMAZING. It looked like the player was in an actual house/mansion, the graphics were that good, I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between that and a video camera of the real thing. Anyone here into RE?

    - Love seeing more info on Deus Ex. I DID ask for this

    - Days Gone looked interesting, need to find out more

    Watching Zelda demo now

My impression, too. I'm legitimately scared for this game, the VII Remake and the franchise as a whole, now.

XV took 10 years, and needed to be a great 10/10 game. Then with VII Remake, it ABSOLUTELY had to be flawless. Now both look bad and I fear for the future of FF...

I originally thought to myself when I pre-ordered XV, that I'm going to play it as if it has no FF aspirations. I was going to play it as a plain ol' RPG and judge it based on that. And while the graphics are stunning, the game itself looks like a flop.

VII Remake was supposed to be the fallback, the gold mine. Slapping new graphics on that classic and you'd rake in the dough. I didn't think it was possible, but it looks now like that game is going to be pathetic, a carbon copy of XV. And if XV flops... then what?

PS - yes I'm aware that there was nothing on VII Remake but they tie in to me.

Watching the stream on Youtube and this lady is playing LoZ. First thing she did was take off Link's shirt, just because. I'm offended at the over-sexualization of Link.

But seriously, I noticed they have a dialog tree, which is giving Link a way to communicate to NPCs with actual dialog without actually giving him a voice. I don't understand why it's taken so long to do this.

I'd be curious to know where the game is going to take place in the official timeline.

I just dont like sports games, they're not exciting. I want video games, not sports.
I have a feeling that entrance wasn't his idea. But I am interested in anything Kojima is involved in so I cant wait to see what this game is about, especially because it isnt Metal Gear. The ones full of themselves is Sony bringing in an orchestra to soundtrack the trailers.
I think this God of War is a cop out. Why is he in Scandinavia? Why is he fighting norse creatures now, he's Greek? They could have turned this game into anything they wanted, even a new IP but no they got scared and greedy and decided to slap the GoW name on it and give the dude a Kratos skin texture. Take off GoW and give him normal human skin tones and suddenly its not a GoW game. Way to be imaginative, Sony.
RE7 did look pretty cool, I wonder if its going to be entirely first person taking a note from Amnesia? Im hoping its 3rd person because thats just what I expect from RE. I do like the RE series but havent really played since RE5.

Maybe im getting cynical with the game industry, but I just find a lot of console games are getting lazy and playing it safe. No doubt a lot of it looks fun, but its also nothing new.

yeah let's talk about Zelda for a bit

I don't play Zelda but my husband does and I watch him play sometimes. It's very different, obviously. It's weird to me that there's no field music. It's weird to me that there's no companion (but Link still doesn't say anything). It's weird to me that the beginning only featured one NPC. You have no idea what's happening and you really don't have much of a direction. Not saying these things are bad, but it would probably take a bit to get used to.

It's just interesting I guess because Zelda is so obviously their trump card, they had to innovate but they also need to be careful because of how important it is.

Wow, that Zelda game did look really good. It has the cel shaded style of WW so it reminds me of it. Too bad I've not played a Zelda game since Twilight Princess and I only rented that one and only played 2 hours of it.

Doubt I'll play this one either but still!

The Zelda has been the game I'm most excited about that has come out from E3. Probably the last game I'll end up buying for my WiiU if it does get released both for that and the NX.
