Well, this actually finally happened. Not everyone has been arrested or discovered yet, obviously, but over a dozen have. Most of them from CONCACAF and CONMEBOL. Though, there are other nations involved outside of the Americas, specifically mentioning members of both the African and Asian federations.

Crazy stuff. Hopefully more to come:

Until they finally get Sepp Blatter, this will result in nothing more than a few slaps on the wrists and business as usual (with that stylish FIFA luggage, yo!).

I wonder what'll happen with the Russia 2018 and Qatar 2022 bids, if anything.

It would be unfortunate, on one angle, if Qatar's bid is lost, and the lives lost hastily building those stadiums in Qatar were essentially meaningless, even if charges were brought against FIFA/Qatar for that, too.

Frankly those conditions are not exclusive to the World Cup construction projects and so many of those lives would probably have been lost anyway.

    Yeah...yeah.

Still, I enjoy that some people have had such large charges get brought against them.

It made for a nice surprise when I walked into the gym and saw this on the TV.

Sad thing is, even with him gone, we still might get some one corrupt. Hopefully those arrested sends a good message.

This is the problem - who's next. Michel Platini? The guy who dined with President Sarkozy and the Crown Prince of Qatar a few days before the 2022 vote? The heads of both Asian and African football also have sketchy ethical records. João Havelange, Blatter's predecessor, was far worse than Blatter who ultimately was more inept rather than totally corrupt.

In other news, transcripts from Chuck Blazer's guilty plea in 2013 have been released, showing that he and others on the executive committee of FIFA accepted bribes for the hosting of both the 1998 and 2010 events.
