    Day 1 results

    Oakland/Houston: HOU 27-14

Seven people picked Houston, and six picked Oakland. The latter get zero points.

Everyone who picked Houston picked a score within 15 points of the actual score, and have earned four points.

Eye was off by a combined 4 points, edging out BigDaddy (off by 5), and earning the fifth bonus point for this game.

Jon changed his pick to Houston, and was rewarded with a four-point swing, though he was just a couple points away from missing out on that fourth point.

    Detroit/Seattle: SEA 26-6

Three people, against better judgement, picked a bad, bad road team to win against a good, good home team.

A few others also overestimated the Lions' offensive output. Four people (BigDaddy, Insane man, Eye, JoZ) were over the 15-point threshold and earned only three points.

Of the remaining six people who were within the 15-point limit to earn the fourth point, Fire King was just nine points off, and gets the bonus fifth point.

I'm starting to worry that the 34 points I have Pittsburgh scoring might not be enough...

Really needed Miami to convert on that two point conversion.

    Miami/Pittsburgh: PIT 30-12

Everyone picked the Steelers, except Cpezo who has not picked either of today's games as of right now.

CAFM and Joe were just outside the 15-pt threshold and are stuck with just 3 pts. Everyone else got at least 4.

Despite his worries, Fool's Requiem was just 6 points off the actual score, which just edges out a couple of others who were off by 7. As a result, he gets the fifth bonus point to finally get on the postseason scoreboard.

Going to need all 5 of those points after completely messing up the other three games.

NY Giants/Green Bay: 38-13 Green Bay

Four people picked the Giants, and Cpezo didn't pick at all, so these people earned 0 points.

Nobody else was able to get within 15 points because nobody expected a lopsided game, so its three points to everyone else.

In fact, the largest margin of victory anyone gave the game was seven points, and CAFM was the only one to do so in favor of the Packers. In fact, he got Green Bay's 38 points exactly right. He was off by 18 on the Giants, but nobody else was that close for both teams combined, so CAFM earns what is now a bonus fourth point.

I dunno why, but I'm super excited to be in 2nd place. Won't win because I take too many risks and BigDaddy is too good at this, but after finishing middle of the road last year then being dead last in the playoffs, this is a pants tingler!

If I'm not mistaken, I will get all 5 points for that slaughtering of the Seahawks.

    Seattle/Atlanta: 36-20 ATL

Fire King and Cpezo did not pick (I'll send them another reminder for tomorrow). Jon was the only one to pick Seattle. Zero points for them.

Spiner underestimated Atlanta's offense/Seattle's defense, being off by 16 with Atlanta's score alone. So, he only gets three points.

Everyone else was within 15 (dimmerwit was exactly 15 away, so close!) and gets at least four points.

Both Fool's Requiem and JoZ were only 5 points away from the actual score; both guessed 24 pts for Seattle, but FR predicted 35 points for Atlanta while JoZ went with 37. As they tied, they both get the bonus point and they both earn 5 pts for this game.

    Houston/New England: 34-16 NE

Of those that picked, everyone picked New England. FR thought Houston's defense would show up or something, but Houston turned it over badly several times, eventually causing FR to be the only one outside the 15-pt threshold.

Eye, the experience Patriots fan as he is, was only 4 points off from the correct score, and earns the bonus 5th point.

Nearly everyone has at least 8 points, but tomorrow's games should provide some separation.

I don't know what's outlandish about the idea of the so called "#1 defense in the NFL" (total yards) keeping the Pats from blowing up the scoreboard. It's not like I chose the Texans to win... I spotted the Texans D 20 points, that's more than reasonable considering how much dominate defenses have been huge factors in recent Super Bowl wins. I mean, shit, they picked off Brady twice in the game... he was picked off twice all season.

What's embarrassing is the #1 scoring defense spotting the 29th ranked scoring offense 16 non garbage time points even with Brock throwing 3 picks himself.

10 of those points are from drives that started inside the 25 due to a fumble and int. Take those away and Houston waa terrible on offense.

    Green Bay/Dallas: 34-31 GB

Only three people picked Green Bay. RedRooster and Spiner did, but weren't within 15 points. JoZ did as well, and was only seven points off. So, he earned 5 pts, a significant boost for him.

    Pittsburgh/Kansas City: 18-16 PIT

Six people picked the Steelers. Three were not within 15 points (Spiner was 16 pts off, so close!). JoZ was within 15, but both Jon and Eye were tied for the closest, only off by 11. They each earn the 5th point.

    Results

    The JoZ: 18 ( 4)
The Eye in the Sky!: 14 ( 3)
    Spiner202: 13 ( 4)
    BigDaddy: 11 ( 3)
    CAFM: 11 ( 3)
    RedRooster: 11 ( 3)
    Jon: 9 ( 2)
    dimmerwit: 8 ( 2)
    Fool's Requiem: 8 ( 2)
    Insane man: 8 ( 2)
    JoetheShow: 8 ( 2)

Cpezo and Fire King are currently dropped from the standings as they were unable to pick several games. They can still feel free to pick any of the three remaining games and I'll add them back in, however.

Conference Championship games are worth double the points. So, that's 6 pts for a correct pick, 2 pts for bonuses, etc. BigDaddy maintains a 7 point lead, but he can lose that with a single incorrect pick. The title is still up for grabs.
