Cheat Codes

Cheat mode

Press Start to pause game play. Press RB to scroll to the "Under The Hood" menu. Select "Sponsor Code" option, then enter one of the following case-sensitive codes to activate the corresponding cheat function. A message will confirm correct code entry. Cars will appear when you enter a junkyard after earning the appropriate license. Note: Some codes require an Xbox Live connection. Also, the ability to enter sponsor codes is not available after the v1.6 patch.

B'Z Friction Ikusa GT

Enter bzfriction as a code in the Japanese version of the game.

Circuit City Hotrod

Enter circuitcity as a code in the North American version of the game. You must earn a "Burnout Paradise" license to use this car after it is unlocked. (Screenshot)

Licenses

Earn the indicated number of wins to unlock the corresponding license. Note: Previously earned wins do not count towards unlocking the next higher license.

D license: Win 2 events.
C license: Win 7 events.
B license: Win 16 events.
A license: Win 26 events.
Burnout Paradise license: Win 45 events.
Burnout Elite license: Win all 110 events.

Hints

Double barrel roll

The best way to do a double barrel roll is to jump in the Ikusa GT and fly off the big jump on South Mountain Drive.

Sirens

In any car with sirens (for example, the Hunter Citizen, Krieger PCPD Special, or the Hunter Manhattan Spirit), press L3  PlayStation3  or click the Left Analog-stick  Xbox 360  to turn it on. If you hold it, you will hear a different siren.

Stop Hot Rod Locked Boost

Perform an E turn to stop the Hot Rod's boost. Do this twice if it does not work the first time.

Screensaver

Stop your car and remain idle until the engine turns off. You will know when this happens when your taillights turn dark. Remain idle, then the screen will become monochrome and the camera will start to move around the city.

Legendary car references

The following cars are a reference to more famous vehicles.

Jansen 88 P12 Special: DeLorean from Back To The Future.
Hunter Manhattan Special: Ecto 1 from Ghostbusters.
Carson GT Nighthawk: K.I.T.T. From Knight Rider.
Hunter Cavalry Special: General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard.

Secret quarry area

From the top part of the dam, go west and follow the road (W. Lake Drive) northwest and turn left. You should see an opening with a road that leads down and is a very good jump for barrel rolls. The quarry spans that entire area.

Secret airfield location

Start at the junkyard on Nelson Way, and drive south. You will eventually end up at an opening to your right. This is the Paradise City Airfield. It has the barrel roll jumps and a difficult double super jump.

Easy "Boosting Around the World" achievement

  • Use the Kitano Hydros Techno. Floor the gas and the brake and the car still moves. Just add boost to burn out at a very slow speed, making it easier to react to oncoming traffic and obstacles.
  • Switch to a speed boost-type car (preferably the Ubershall 8 because of the square front end or any speed car with one). Go to the gas station on Angus Wharf. This is the only station this trick will work at and it cannot be online because of the Cagney Update. Drive to the south end of the station. Drive and boost into the concrete triangle at the end of the station. Keep boosting and the game will think you are going through the station. You will keep getting boost refills after you Burnout. Keep holding [Boost] and [Gas] and if you start to lean towards one way turn in the other direction. After a few minutes you should hit Burnout x20.

Lookin' Good (5 points): Repair your first wrecked car.
Watt? (10 points): Set a Time Road Rule on Watt St.
It's Showtime (10 points): Set a Showtime Road Rule East Crawford Drive.
Great Start (10 points): Win a Race.
Misdemeanor (10 points): Collect 5 Billboards.
Off the Beaten Path (10 points): Collect 25 Smashes.
Bottom of the Class (20 points): Get your D Class License.
Perfect Rage (5 points): Get 10 Takedowns in Road Rage without Wrecking.
Rising From the Ashes (10 points): Repair your car at critical damage in a Road Rage event.
Spinnin' Around (10 points): Perform a 360 Flatspin in any car.
Underachiever (30 points): Get your C Class License.
Learning to Fly (10 points): Successfully land 5 SUPERJUMPS.
Duckin' and Weavin' (10 points): Win a Marked man without being taken down.
The Show Must Go On (20 points): Get a 10x multiplier in Showtime.
Rampage! (20 points): Get a Takedown Rampage.
Must Try Harder (40 points): Get your B Class License.
Parallel Park (20 points): Power Park with a 100% rating.
Daredevil (25 points): Landed a 2 barrel roll jump.
Boosting Around the World (25 points): Get a x20 Boost Chain.
Flying Colors (50 points): Get your A Class License.
Millionaire's Club (25 points): Score over a 1,000,000 in Stunt Run.
Supercharged (20 points): Win 25 Burning Routes.
Car in a China Shop (20 points): Get 500 Takedowns (online and offline).
Paradise Won (60 points): Win your Burnout Driving License.
All Pimped Out (10 points): Win all Burning Routes.
Explorer (10 points): Find all Events.
Paid and Displayed (20 points): Enter all eleven Car Parks. There are three in Harbor Town, four in Palm Bay Heights and four in Downtown Paradise.
Bustin' Out (20 points): Collect all Billboards.
Totally Smashed (20 points): Collect all Smashes.
Flying High (20 points): Successfully landed all SUPERJUMPS.
Speed King (20 points): Set a Time Road Rule on every road.
Crashin' All Over The World (20 points): Set a Showtime Road Rule on every road.
Shopaholic (10 points): Find all Drive Thrus and Car Parks.
Elite (70 points): Win your Burnout Elite Licence.
Criterion Elite (20 points): Get your Elite License, win every event, find all discoverables and beat every Road Rule.
Online Racer (10 points): Complete an online Race.
First Win (10 points): Win Your first 8 Player online Race.
Online Champion (20 points): Win 10 online Races.
Online and Kicking (30 points): Complete 20 online Events.
Firestarter (20 points): Make 50 online Rivals.
Just for Pics (10 points): Make Your First online Rival.

Block Party (35 points): Complete 2 whole sections of online Challenges (excluding PDLC).
Burnout Skills (30 points): In 8 Player online Freeburn lead 6 of the Today's Best Scores.
Criterion Fever (20 points): Everyone at Criterion Games is infected with a virus. The virus is passed when those with it are taken down online, and from there it just spreads. You will unlock this achievement when you get infected.
